Overview

What Intruder Alarm Repair and Servicing Covers

Intruder alarm repair is finding out why an alarm system isn't working as it should and putting it right. Servicing is the planned side: having the system looked over so problems are found before they leave you unprotected.

An alarm fault can show up in one place and start in another, so an engineer looks at the system before recommending any repair. Whether you need intruder alarm servicing to have a system looked over, burglar alarm repair after something stops working, or alarm maintenance on a planned basis, what that involves, and the cost, is agreed with you first.

Faults

Intruder Alarm Faults We Diagnose

These are the areas an engineer looks at when an alarm develops a problem.

  1. Sensors

Detectors and sensors that aren't picking up, or are reporting when there's nothing there.

You might notice: Alarms with no clear cause, or movement that goes unnoticed.

  2. Control panel

The panel that controls the system and reports on its condition.

You might notice: A panel that is slow to respond or reports something you don't recognise.

  3. Power

Problems with the power supply to the system.

You might notice: A system that won't stay on or reports a power problem.

  4. System faults

General faults where the system isn't behaving as it should and the cause isn't obvious.

You might notice: An alarm that acts differently from how it used to.

The visit

What a Repair and Service Visit Includes

From reporting the problem to the alarm working again.

  1. You report the problem

What the alarm is doing, and when it started.

  2. Assessment of your system

An engineer looks at the alarm system you have.

  3. Diagnosis

Finding out what is causing the problem.

  4. Repair scope

What needs repairing or replacing, agreed with you in a written quote.

  5. Work carried out

The agreed repair or servicing is done.

  6. Testing and handover

We test the alarm, then explain what we found and what we did.

Decide

Repair vs Upgrade vs Replacement

Only a look at the system settles which is right. These are the general signs.

  1. Repair is often enough

    • The faultLimited to one part of the system

    • The rest of the systemWorking as expected

    • PartsStill available for your equipment

  2. Worth discussing more

    • The faultKeeps returning or is hard to trace

    • The rest of the systemNo longer does what you need

    • PartsNo longer available

Servicing

Preventative Alarm Servicing

Servicing is about finding problems before they matter.

  1. Planned servicing visits

The system is looked over on a planned visit rather than only when something goes wrong.

  2. Checks on sensors, panel and power

The parts most likely to cause a problem are checked.

  3. Call-outs between visits

If something stops working, an engineer can come and assess it, then confirm what is needed.

Before you agree

Before You Agree an Alarm Repair

A clear picture of the problem makes a repair quote easier to judge.

Worth noting down

  1. What the alarm is doing, and when it started
  2. Whether anything changed just before it did
  3. What you know about the system, if anything

A repair quote should set out

  • What the fault is, as far as it has been diagnosed
  • The repair, and the parts and labour involved
  • What testing follows
  • Anything not included

Cost

How Alarm Repairs Are Priced

What an alarm repair costs follows from what is wrong with it, which is why we don't quote a figure before an engineer has looked. Once the cause is known, you get the price in writing.

  1. The cause of the fault

  2. Parts

  3. Size of the system

  4. Diagnosis

  5. Written quote

Very efficient and professional. I had a fire alarm system fitted at my property in South Manchester. The engineers arrived on time, worked cleanly, and got everything done in a day…

Help & FAQs

Intruder Alarm Repair FAQs

What does intruder alarm repair and servicing include?

Diagnosing the fault, a written quote for the repair, the repair or servicing work, and testing the alarm afterwards.

What happens during a repair visit?

An engineer looks at your alarm system, works out what is causing the problem and explains what needs doing. The repair is quoted in writing first, and only goes ahead once you agree.

Which areas do you cover?

Manchester and Greater Manchester. For anywhere else, ask us: we'll say whether we can attend.

Can you work on existing systems?

In many cases, yes. An engineer assesses your existing system first, then confirms what can be repaired.

What happens after the repair?

We test the alarm, then explain what we found and what we did.

Do you provide ongoing support?

Yes. Planned servicing is available as well as one-off repairs. Tell us about your system and we'll suggest what fits.
